Mission

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to leadership in business. Every executive, every person is different. Every business has its own culture and its own pressures. Leaders are constantly juggling the competing demands of their personal lives, their business objectives and the idiosyncrasies of the teams that support them. And these demands are always changing. To make good decisions, leaders need clarity. That's what The McCarley Group aims to provide.

For more than two decades, I've applied the skills and experiences I gained as a therapist to roles supporting founders, CEOs and senior leaders at major companies. I've helped them navigate the stresses and strains of decision making, the push and pull of balancing personal and professional life, and I've helped them turn dysfunctional teams into productive ones.

I have had a court side seat to lot of corporate behavior, in both small companies and large companies. I've learned from brilliant people about what makes them great leaders and less impactful leaders. Above all, I've seen what can get in the way of brilliant people doing their best work and leading their teams and their companies in the most impactful, thoughtful and successful ways.

What we offer is not a business school management consultancy model. It is a personal, tailored service that seeks to understand what people need to do their best work and get the best out of the people around them.  It's more than how to redraw an org chart, but how to lead with insight.

Additionally, my experience in community therapy working with all types of mental health issues and life challenges has fueled a passion to support people, regardless of their profession, towards positive change from the smallest behavioral tweak to thinking through large life transitions.  How we approach problem solving and growth in our careers is usually deeply linked to patterns in our personal lifes. I seek to understand the whole person, and help people apply insights and skills to all parts of life.

Is coaching for me?

  • You can see the path ahead but struggle to take that first step?

  • Aware of the steps needed, yet find your efforts falling short?

Coaching is designed to elevate you to the next level, whether that involves improving leadership skills, enhancing communication within your team, or navigating personal transitions.

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching is forward-looking, aimed at evaluating resources, developing skills, and removing barriers to success. In contrast, therapy tends to explore past experiences to understand present conflicts, often emphasizing mental health wellness and tool-building. While both require open dialogue, they differ in defining problems and pursuing solutions.

My mission is to provide a personalized coaching experience, whether focused on business or personal goals, that facilitates growth, strengthens leadership and relationship capabilities, and encourages transformative success in all aspects of life. I leverage my background as a certified professional coach and my PhD in counseling to employ empirically based practices that analyze current states of growth and future aspirations.

I am committed to creating a space where everyone feels welcome, respected, safe, and fully seen. A core value of the practice is to ensure diversity, equity, inclusion. We take individual and professional responsibility in challenging and dismantling any oppression, acts of racism or otherism. This requires ongoing self-examination of intended and unintended bias, discrimination and racism to ensure everyone feels seen and safe.
